  1. Block Spotify From Using Mobile Data, But Not Wi-Fi. Turning on Offline Mode stops Spotify from connecting, even on Wi-Fi. If you want it to be able to connect on Wi-Fi but not when you’re on mobile data, you need to use your smartphone’s data controls to block Spotify from using mobile data.
  2. Android: Go to More→Settings, and then select the Offline Mode check box in the Settings screen that appears. You can be offline only for up to 30 days because Spotify needs to know you still have an active subscription. When Offline mode’s been on for a while, go to the Settings screen to see how long you have until Spotify needs you to go online again.

If you have Premium, you can download your favorite songs, albums, playlists, and podcasts, so you can listen to them without an internet connection.

Spotify needs a WiFi or mobile data connection to work. It’s best to use WiFi instead of mobile data. If you can’t use WiFi but want to keep mobile data usage low, use Data Saver. Data Saver reduces the app’s data usage by showing fewer images and reducing audio quality. Switch Data Saver on.

You can download up to 10,000 songs on a maximum of 5 different devices.

Note: If you use the free service you can download podcasts on mobile and tablet.

Note: An internet connection is initially required for downloading. You need to go online at least once every 30 days to keep your music and podcasts downloaded.

  1. Go to the playlist you want to download.
  2. Switch Download on .

A green arrow indicates the download was successful.

Set the app to Offline Mode

  1. Open Spotify.
  2. For Mac: In the Apple menu at the top of the screen, click Spotify.
    For Windows: Click File in the Windows menu at the top of the screen.
  3. Select Offline Mode.

  1. Go to the playlist, album, or podcast you want to download.
  2. Tap to download.
    Note: On Android, tap Download on to download an album or playlist.

By default, downloading with mobile data is disabled. To enable it:

  1. Tap Home .
  2. Tap Settings .
  3. Tap Music Quality.
  4. Under Download, switch on Download using cellular.
